Dr. Mary Nell Chestnut
Dr. Mary Nell Chestnut has her solo private psychology practice in Midtown Atlanta.
A 1963 graduate of Mount Mary College (BA in Biology, minor in Chemistry), Dr. Chestnut worked for ten years in hospitals and clinics in Milwaukee, San Francisco, and Seattle. After obtaining her MS in counseling from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania (1975), Dr. Chestnut worked as a counselor at Ramapo College in Mahwah, New Jersey. She then obtained her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from New York University in 1986.
Relocating to Atlanta in 1984, Dr. Chestnut enjoys a wide diversity of clientele of all ages and varied experiences from all ages throughout the lifespan. Dr. Chestnut’s core philosophy is for clients to obtain optimal mental, emotional and spiritual well being for themselves and their families.
Her CD, “Lightening the Load,” addresses stress and spirituality. She is the author of two books, Learned Helplessness Depression in Children of Divorce (1986) and Celebrating Sela, My Angel and Me (publication pending).
